This week began with many uncertainties as across the globe we are suffering the effects of the spread of Covid-19. This is the beginning of a global pandemic; many services are already closing to help sow the spread of this virus.
As the days passed the government implemented the closure of creches, schools, and colleges across the country until March 29th to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as we enter the delay phase of this pandemic. This news immediately made all of us question what was happening and what was going to happen, unfortunately, there is no way to get answers to those questions.
As I became unwell with tonsillitis and a sinus infection my doctor recommended, I stay away from college, although I was home, I managed to get some work completed.
After looking for freestanding mannequins I got in contact with a number of charity shops and thankfully the SVP Westside kindly donated two mannequins for me to use for my project.
That being said I have been faced with a huge issue where I have my physical mannequins stuck in college and I cannot put my participants at risk due to social distancing so any interviews must be conducted via phone/email.
With the lockdown of many European countries, I have decided to send off some printable materials to print to have as back up in case we see the closure of further businesses due to the virus.
Despite the closure of college this week I worked on design application on the mannequins using traditional tattoo stenciling techniques.
I also worked on drawing up some tattoo designs which I will include in the images below.
Next week all backup materials will be sent to print, and interviews will be conducted, after only receiving two participants to the project I may need to re-iterate the outcome of this project.
As the news kept us all up to date with what is going on in the world and the precautions, we are asked to follow, it is imperative that work continues and if anything, things need to be completed faster.
With all the uncertainty and the moment, I know I must set up a suitable base at home to work productively in and begin using all the tools I can that I have at my disposal.
As of now, I am unsure what the plan of action is for next week, I will keep working inline with my schedule and await contact from my supervisors as to see if there are any updates on what we must do.
