Hi there,
My name is Emily Mae Ernstzen, I'm a final year Graphic Design and Illustration student in G.M.I.T Galway. Welcome to my major project. Throughout this website, it will be serving as an online research and process journal. For my final year major project, I have decided to focus on using tattoo designs to cover scarring from breast cancer treatment and surgery From a personal perspective, I can relate to using tattoos to cover up scarring. I initially had never planned to get tattoos but then I discovered that they worked brilliantly as a cover-up for scars. I soon discovered then that people were looking at my tattoos and not my scars. I began to regain my confidence and self-esteem. This, in turn, helped me close a dark chapter in my life. For this reason, I would like to highlight how tattooing can help women feel empowered and regain their confidence back.
