This week I was faced with a new set of challenges. I was asked to prepare a project proposal and presentation for my new topic. Last semester we had to submit a project proposal book for our topic. Looking back, I now realise the mistakes I had made, I wanted it to look earthy tribal and rustic.
I handmade a proposal book and made the cover with painted canvas to replicate the African tribal fabrics. I had made the book a concertina fold book, but the finish and overall execution of the book was very poor. Thinking back on that I am ashamed that I handed it in as my work. Although I did put effort into making the book, it was not of a presentable standard.
From that and the feedback I was given on that, I feel as if I have learned my lesson, presentation and execution are just as important as the content. With that in mind, I had prepared a new proposal document with a strong focus on presentation professionalism.
I had met with my supervisor to get feedback on the proposal book, although the new document was much more professional and clean the content was not focused enough. I need to focus the project to discover what it really is as of now I am still left with a broad topic.
I need to define what the focus is an get on with researching it. I am aware I am a number of weeks if not months behind on this project, so I need to find the information I need as soon as possible. My peers are far ahead creating time schedules personas etc, so I need to quicken the pace whilst remaining as focused and thorough as possible.
In the coming week, I will post updates on the project progress and direction of the project I had previously hoped to create a survey but I need to define the end-user and the audience before sending out a survey. Alongside this, I need to do more research to identify the problem, identify the "how might we statement", identify the goals of the project, and research towards having a very in-depth knowledge of the topic at hand.
