Week 20 Work Review

At the beginning of the week, I decided to take a break from designing tattoos. I wanted to create some motion graphics for the landing page of my website. I wanted to do something basic if that would just catch a person's attention.

I had decided that I wanted to have the title of the project appear across the screen as if it was being written on the screen in a looping animation. I spent some time looking at similar animations and began by working in After Effects. I created a few different versions with different typefaces and different colour stories.

I had decided on the animation that I wanted and exported the file and upload it onto my website. I set this up as a looping animation on the website so when you click on to the website this animation will loop throughout the time on the page.

Feedback then came back in for the tattoos, so I took some notes on what I needed to change in the designs.

For participant A I had simplified the design as she requested the design now consists of two roses and a lot more foliage the design still follows a curved line so it should perfectly fit and disguise her scar.

After receiving the new feedback on the design she really liked the idea of the two roses she felt it looked a lot more dainty and feminine but she did ask for one last change she requested that there be some beading or jewels included in the design as she believes that this would make it fit her personality the best. As this is quite a simple request it should not take too long to make this revision.

After the initial changes participant B had asked for I had redesigned the tattoo with emphasis on the snake looking more like a snake I kept a similar theme of having flowers inbuilt with it as this would ensure that the scar was covered.

Participant B wasn’t keen on the layout of the snake she had asked if the snake could be more aggressive to show her power and her strength. She also asked if the flowers could be changed from roses to peony’s as these are one of her favourite flowers. These changes require the design to be completely redrawn so it may take a little more time than some of the others

Participant C had asked for some simple revisions she wanted the Tigers head to look less aggressive and emphasize more on the beauty of the animal. She had expressed that she wasn't too keen on the flowers and that there were too many leaves around the design. Another request she had was too include flowers but make them much smaller and much daintier. these changes are quite simple and shouldn't take too much time.

Participant D’s feedback was that she really liked the design but she just wanted to see a bit more of the lioness she had asked him include maybe a bit more of the head in the neck while still including some flowers. She did not give me any more feedback apart from that so it was quite easy to move on with this design.

For participant E I had initially completely redrawn the design. I changed from the buddha head to the full body. I decided to go with the figure sitting down with its legs crossed to give that feeling of meditation.

This it's to represent her spirituality I also backed it with a mandala as she had requested this. The only revision she's asked to be made is to include a lotus flower underneath the figure as this is a symbol in her spirituality. This is a quite simple revision and it will not take too much time to complete.

Finally, for participant F, I had redrawn the moth design with ornate beaded lacework included also the design included some jewels and more intricate design work in the wings of the moth.

She wasn't too keen on this design as it strayed too far away from the neo-traditional style that she had originally wanted. She also changed her mind on having a feminine feel to the tattoo so I will redesign the tattoo from scratch. As this design will be a complete redraw this is one of the tattoos that will take the most time to complete.

For next week I will work on all the revisions for the tattoos and send them off for some final feedback. This will be the last set of revisions as I will run out of time if I keep redesigning the tattoos. I also need to work on the layout of the book so it can be sent to print on time.
