Participant D Initial Design

Participant D, I began by looking over her responses to the questionnaire followed by looking at the mind maps and mood board created for her. She wanted something that portrayed beauty, femininity but also strength.

Looking at a range of tattoo forums, lions are an extremely popular design for both women and men. They are also a symbol of beauty and strength.

After doing some research, I decided that I would draw up the lion with a floral design. I sketched for a few hours and began turning the sketches into a composition.

I knew from my questionnaire that participants D’s scar is horizontal and is about 10cms long and 4cms thick.

From here I drew out a guide of what this scar would look like, this in turn helped me visualise the area I needed to cover. From there I was able to see that the tattoo would need to follow the line of the scar.

I then focused on making an aesthetically pleasing design. The design was then sent onto participant D to get her thoughts and feedback so I can improve on the design.
