Participant C Initial Design

Participant C, I began by looking over her responses to the questionnaire followed by looking at the mind maps and mood board created for her. She wanted something that represents strength and beauty, a majestic tiger or lion or some animal as her love for animals has helped her through her journey.

Looking at a range of tattoo forums, tigers are an extremely popular design for both women and men. They are also a symbol of beauty and strength.

After doing some research, I decided that I would draw up the tiger with a floral design. I sketched for a few hours and began turning the sketches into a composition.

I knew from my questionnaire that participants C’s scar was approximately 16 cm long and it varies in width but I'd say about 5 cms in width.

From here I drew out a guide of what this scar would look like, this in turn helped me visualise the area I needed to cover. From there I was able to see that the tattoo would need to follow the line of the scar.

I then focused on making an aesthetically pleasing design. The design was then sent onto participant C to get her thoughts and feedback so I can improve on the design.
