Participant A, I began by looking over her responses to the questionnaire followed by looking at the mind maps and mood board created for her. From there I knew a few things for certain, she wanted something feminine, delicate, and floral.
Looking at a range of tattoo forums, flowers are an extremely popular design for both women and men. They are also heavily used in scar covering as they provide some very meaningful symbolism.
After doing some research, I decided that I would draw up some rose designs. I sketched for a few hours and began turning the sketches into a composition.
I knew from my questionnaire that participants A’s scar was approximately 13 CM in length and 4 CM in width. She had also mentioned that the scar was curved.
From here I drew out a guide of what this scar would look like, this in turn helped me visualise the area I needed to cover. From there I was able to see that the tattoo would need to follow the curve of the scar.
I then focused on making an aesthetically pleasing design. The design was then sent onto participant A to get her thoughts and feedback so I can improve on the design.
